I am an Australian writer and reader, a former bookseller, and maker of literary journals. I have published and performed my work across a selection of publications and events. In 2022 I was a scholarship recipient of the Faber Academy for their ‘Writing a Novel’ course.

My novel ‘The Curse’ was named a finalist for this year’s Glendower Award for an Emerging Queensland Writer. This work explores the desire to become a mother and the pressures we place on our bodies to perform.

I currently reside in Meanjin/Magandjin on the unceded lands of the Yuggera/Jagera and Turrbal people.

I am not on social media but you can contact me at brontecoates(at)gmail(dot)com.
